A broader sense of the term palimpsest and its metaphorical use in various fields—like architecture, archaeology, forensic science, and art—denotes an object that has been used and altered over time, bearing visible layers of its history and transformations. With this notion in mind, I have crafted The Totems from discarded construction wood slabs and boards.

A totem represents one’s strengths and weaknesses but also connects with one's kinship. It portrays personality, identity, and family. They carry native symbolism and a profound exploration of my personal journey and persona as I have tried to preserve their history whilst rewriting mine on top.
