Tips to navigate and enjoy your visit to an art fair

Many think that you only visit an art fair if you are planning to buy art, right? But this is the wrong answer!

An art fair is a major event, and yes of course it is an opportunity to collect some really good artwork, but the experience of an art fair goes beyond that. So to help you navigate the upcoming Affordable Art Fair in Sydney, I have put together some tips that you might find helpful.

  1. Purchase tickets online and avoid the queue. I have limited complimentary VIP tickets that grant you and your companion free access to the fair daily. Follow the link: Complimentary tickets

  2. Know why you are going.

    • If your intention is to entertain yourself, then it is important that you get familiar with the fair program. There will be plenty of performances, art talks, tours, and children's workshops. You don’t want to miss out on any of these.

    • If you intend to collect some art, do your research before the fair and attend the event ready with photos and measurements of your space. Artists and galleries are there to help you with your decision and mostly they want to make sure that when you buy something, you love for many years to come.

  3. Wear comfortable shoes, you will spend a lot of time on your feet!

  4. Go to learn. Don’t be shy to ask questions. This is the opportunity to engage with the artists, and understand their work and what they stand for.

  5. Take a break! Art fairs are color and image overload. Give yourself some time to sit down, relax and enjoy a beverage.

  6. Don’t miss out on a work you wanted: take a photo of the artist, booth number, and work you are interested in case you want to come back.

  7. Met an artist you love? Keep in touch after the fair! Grab their business card, join their mailing list and follow them on social media. I know I put all of my love and energy into what I do, and your support is my drive!

I will be looking forward to welcoming you from June 2-5th at The Royal Randwick Racecourse!

Big hug,

Marisabel
