When there is a will, there is a way!

A story about working with constraints.

A story about working with constraints.

It is my turn to walk the talk in making this a FUN and POSITIVE  year as I had proposed in my first blog.

I have to admit that it didn't come easy to rewrite the ‘script’ and move everything to the virtual domain in a matter of days; but when there is a will, there is a way!

How can someone be an inspiration to others and lead the way when everyone seems to be so flat? No judgment here, many people have been financially and emotionally affected from what has been a  Via Crucis of lockdowns. The fact that this might become the ‘new normal’ is not easy to accept and understand when one has been used to living in a country of such freedoms.

Working with constrictions actually opens brain pathways to search for new and creative ways of completing a task and solving a problem. Putting constraints on a task lifts the constraints from the thought process and frees it to think beyond the expected. It is only natural that our brains react with “fear” as a response to the unknown. That is how humans have survived through the centuries!

In the current times we need to ask ourselves: what do we have and how can we use it?  Stop concentrating on what we are missing and work towards a content mindset. When we are happy or content our brain releases dopamine. Dopamine is used by our frontal lobe to enhance communication between the left and right sides of the brain. This allows us to be more creative.

Our job as artists is to ask the difficult things and answer them through our work. It is a risky approach but it is honest, and it is this way that our art becomes the result of our resilience.

The motto of the ‘Boring No More’ exhibition is to inspire people to live a happier and more plentiful life with the resources they might have at hand. I wouldn’t be doing these artworks any justice if I had decided to postpone the show; on the contrary, the timing couldn’t have been better as I am living by my predicament.

Hang in there guys! We can do this together.

In the meantime, I am sending you a big virtual hug,

PS: Private virtual exhibition tours are available on Wed 21st and Wed 28th July.

A percentage of the exhibition sales will be donated to Beyond Blue Australia in support of those suffering from anxiety and depression during these times. Help me, help them!
