Cozy Open Day session with Annette Kelsey
Open Day's fourth session will be held on June 20th, 2021 from 11-3 pm.
The studio is located at 1/18 West St Brookvale. NSW 2100
I first saw Annette’s work about 6 years ago, where her beautiful calming paintings were displayed next to a poem. The works invited you to visit these enchanting landscapes and after reading the accompanying poem, it was a soothing back and forth dance from painting to words.
Since then I have been a huge fan of her work and it is a big honour to have her as a guest in my studio.
We are preparing a very cozy session where you can enjoy some of Annette’s works while she reads for us fragments of her poetry book. For this special opportunity, I will be showing a review of previous collections in preparation for my upcoming solo exhibition and will be discussing insights into how these works thread together.
About Annette
The love of painting and poetry is in Annette’s creative DNA. She views nature through a watercolour filter, inspired by nature’s soft edges, transparencies and subtle blends of colour. For Annette the perfect companion for art is poetry. Sigmund Freud is credited with saying ‘Everywhere I go I find a poet has been before me’
The words of a poem or a song are easy to retain and can be called upon in all circumstances to revive your soul.
With poetry and art Annette leaves room for the reader and the viewer. Frank Lloyd Wright once said that ‘space is the breath of art’ Annette's desire is to use this ‘space’ to bring a fresh perspective to a world that has forgotten how to be still.
Annette has recently returned to oils and is enjoying the journey to abstraction. The times of isolation during 2020 have revived love for interiors and still life.
Be still
It takes a while
to just be still
The secret is to wait until
the ‘what ifs’ start to fall away
The "‘shoulds’ have finally
had their say
The need to run
releases me
To sit a while
and just be free
For ‘time’ to be
my new found friend
And let my cup
be filled again
Open days will be held on the third Sunday of every month (unless specified otherwise). Special guest will be announced through my newsletter the week prior. Tell your family and friends to subscribe so no one misses out!
